KYC Process Guide
Three verifications stand between you and your first investment: PAN, Aadhaar, and bank account. Here's exactly what to expect for each — step by step.
Why KYC is required
KYC (Know Your Customer) verification is a regulatory requirement for all financial platforms in India under RBI guidelines. It serves three purposes:
Regulatory compliance
RBI mandates KYC for investment platforms. Operating without it is not legally possible.
Fraud prevention
Ensures only verified, real individuals can invest and withdraw. Prevents identity theft and money laundering.
Account security
Links your investment account to your verified identity. If someone tries to access your account, we can verify it's really you.
KYC is a one-time process. Once verified, you don't repeat it unless your information changes significantly.
Step 1: PAN verification
Enter your 10-character PAN and your name as it appears on your PAN card. Vridi verifies this against NSDL (National Securities Depository Limited) records in real-time.
The verification is automated — no manual review required. Your name on the Vridi account must match the name on your PAN exactly (including spelling). Middle names and initials are common sources of mismatch.
Common issue: Name mismatch
If your PAN shows "RAJESH KUMAR SHARMA" but you entered "Rajesh Sharma", it will fail. Update your name on Vridi to match your PAN exactly, including all initials and middle names.
Step 2: Aadhaar OTP verification
Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number. An OTP is sent to your Aadhaar-linked mobile number via UIDAI. Enter the OTP to verify. Vridi uses Digio, a licensed eSign provider, to facilitate this step.
This is a two-step process:
Common issue: OTP not received
The OTP goes to the mobile number registered with UIDAI — which may be different from your Vridi login number. If you don't receive it, check that your Aadhaar mobile number is active. You can update your Aadhaar mobile number at any Aadhaar enrollment centre or via mAadhaar.
Step 3: Bank account verification
Enter your account number, IFSC code, and account holder name. Vridi initiates a penny-drop — a ₹1 credit to verify the account is real and active. Your name on the bank account must match your KYC name.
Penny-drop verification sends ₹1 to your account and verifies the account exists and is in your name. The ₹1 is credited to you — it's not a fee.
Common issue: Account holder name mismatch
Your bank account must be in the same name as your PAN and Aadhaar. Joint accounts (where you are the secondary holder) may fail. Use an account where you are the primary account holder.
After KYC is approved
Once all three verifications are complete and approved, your account is fully activated. You can:
